Case History | Coca-Cola and the “BBM Version” of SMI LSK 45F
A recent project at the Coca-Cola HBC plant perfectly illustrates BBM Packaging’s approach. For one of the region’s most important soft drink production sites, BBM supplied a fully refurbished and upgraded SMI LSK 45F shrink wrapper, re-engineered to meet BBM’s own quality standards and effectively rebranded as a “BBM version” machine.
Designed to work with both glass and PET bottles, the machine was configured to handle eight different format combinations, reaching speeds of up to 45 packs per minute. The upgrade went far beyond standard refurbishment.
BBM integrated its own commercial electronics to improve reliability and simplify spare part management, introduced a scalable pneumatic infeed system for smoother bottle handling, and reinforced the shrink tunnel with a steel mesh chain for enhanced durability in intensive production cycles.
The entire project, from refurbishment and testing in Italy to on-site installation and commissioning in Sarajevo, was managed directly by BBM.
